Unfortunately, 2020 started its ball rolling with an unexpected attack by a virus which suddenly halted people's activity, vehicle movement, industrial shut down perhaps for the first time in modern history. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, human life came to a standstill as many countries were forced to shut themselves off from work.

Nature Blooms Amidst Covid Gloom

We all noticed that our nature started blooming as a result of the lockdown during Covid-19 pandemic. Somehow the outbreak of Coronavirus has turned out to be a boon for the polluted environment. According to scientists, the water quality has improved to the extent that it's even fit for drinking. Even though considered holy, the Ganga was a river that one would dare to step in. We went through many news during the lockdown period stating that the Ganga river and many other famous water bodies had seen a significant improvement in water quality while people were inside and industries were shut. This clearly shows that it was us ‘The Humans’, whose activities lead to nature deteriorating.

12 Major Rivers of India-Ganga, Yamuna, Narmada, Saraswathi, Godavari, Krishna, Kaveri, Bhima, Tapati, Tungabhadra, Sindhu, Pranhita. Sadly, they are the most ill-treated water resource leading it to be in its poorest state. In the name of economic growth and industrial civilization we have been transforming the rivers to sewage canals. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), most of the water bodies are reported to be critically polluted making it unfit not only for drinking but also for bathing.

What next?

After lockdown life is getting back normal as before. Many research experts have mentioned that several environmental factors have seen improvement during the lockdown like air quality, water quality, noise pollution and biodiversity. Most of the people came to the realization what and where everything was going wrong in the way they treated mother nature. Let's make this a lesson. Mother Nature has now clearly shown a preview of the environment that we all crave to live in.
